VILLA ARABESQUE
Located in Acapulco, Mexico
Internationally renowned, this magnificent oceanfront villa with its private hidden beach alcove and pier has hosted royalty, heads-of-state, movie stars, and sports celebrities.
Considered one of the leading villas of the world, Arabesque defies words of description. No narrative or photograph can prepare one for its exotic beauty and powerful grandeur. Comprising over 44,000 square feet according to appraisal, this multi-level estate promises the glow of year-round sun where castles-in-the-air daydreams may materialize before your eyes. For those who wish, there is a funicular railway to transport guests to each level.
Upon entering Arabesque’s gates, a new fantasy awaits with every turn. The spectacular rooftop Camel Walk Terrace, where James Bond landed his helicopter in “License to Kill”, has a dining capacity of 800, with a stucco-tented kitchen and bar area. International cruise ships are a frequent backdrop as they cross the Pacific and journey into port. The scale of the villa is both intimate and grand. Winding stairs descend to the Grand Salon, with a breathtaking view of the approximately 5,500 square-foot swimming pool as it disappears into the turquoise blue of Acapulco Bay. The Grand Salon’s two sweeping sections of dining and conversation areas are open to views of the sea and sky through three-story high Moorish arches and soaring palms.
An emerald green marble staircase leads the way from the Grand Salon to the Harem Room Piano Bar with another panoramic view of the Bay. A hand-painted leopard envelopes the mandarin red piano in this mystical oval room vividly warmed by vibrant hand-painted murals.
The master suite, occupying an entire wing unto itself, is accessed via expansive glass doors offering a stunning panorama of the bay and mountains by day and the dazzling lights of Acapulco by night. The suite has soaring ceilings, a remote-operated home theatre screen, and blackout drapes. The luxurious his-and-her baths offer a mosaic-tile shower and a mosaic-tile tub awaits beneath an exquisite pergola. Room-sized closets provide extensive built-in storage. Above the grand four-poster canopy bed is an elegant Moroccan chandelier. Villa Arabesque is truly a sanctuary of timeless serenity and exotic beauty.
On the second level, the Poseidon Discotheque and Grill in the heart of the villa accommodates approximately 100 guests, with ceilings and walls in the form of blue coral and sea green, vibrantly luminous, undulating marine life and plants in subterranean nooks and grottos, and built-in custom sofas. From its original alabaster white, the disco has been transformed into an under-the-sea kaleidoscopic fantasy that features a sound system, a raised terrazzo-tiled dance floor, a mirrored bar and an inset wall aquarium. The disco also serves as a theatre with a selection of numerous films.
The Poseidon Grill seats and serves up to 60 guests on custom-designed sofas in the form of undulating giant fish, and at the green marble circular bar and round limestone tables. Custom-painted fantasy sea figures appear to float on waves across the “underwater” wall murals.
Descending from the terrace, an illuminated colossal white marble statue of Poseidon stands sentinel in an enclosed winding rock walkway down to the sixth level.
A glorious Pacific Ocean sunset viewed from the rock Grotto is a lifetime memory. Lunch or dinner by the waterfront at the Grotto, with its full bar and grill, can serve a romantic dinner for two or dining for twenty-five. Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s restrooms are adjacent, with outdoor showers. And…just when you believe nothing could be more rejuvenating: Behold!... A magnificent cascading waterfall tumbling from five-story-high rock ledges.
Nine guest suites bring the past and present together in whimsical and elegant amenities reminiscent of the childhood fairy tales of “A Thousand and One Nights” fantasies. Each bedroom and bath unique in its motif and theme is visually intriguing with richly hued and textured custom-painted almost life-sized murals.
Guests luxuriate in individual-room, climate-controlled air-conditioning. The upper level of three bedrooms has its own private courtyard and swimming pool, as does the lower level of five bedrooms. One bedroom, the Nido, is hidden away above the Grand Salon.
The Amate, adjacent to the sea, is a giant ancient tree that expresses a sense of nature that is spiritual. Its magical aura is enhanced for dining when the tree is adorned with natural seashell lanterns swaying in the breeze echoing the hypnotic sounds of the breaking ocean waves below. This tiered rock area seats approximately 60 guests for lunch or dinner.
The Villa’s secluded private beach alcove offers warm ocean waters that revive body and soul with the healing powers of soothing oceanic sand.
The Paddle Tennis Court, on the upper level of the Villa, has an open-air, air-conditioned observation clubhouse, with a grill and bar, backgammon tables, full Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s showers and dressing areas, and a separate gymnasium.
Extensive servants’ quarters include a staff kitchen and dining area on the upper level in addition to office facilities.
Arabesque is a magnificent home for a family, or a spectacular corporate residence or retreat perfect for lavish entertaining. Arabesque also lends itself to development as a boutique hotel or luxury spa, holding a hotel permit as well as a restaurant and bar license. Private side gardens, constituting four building sites, are included with the purchase.
